My cat throws a fit if I try to put her into the carrier to go to the vet, on car trips, etc. The end result of the trip is not always bad, we aren't always going to the vet. Getting her into the carrier is a real chore. She swipes at me and scratches my arms. I can't even bribe her in there. How can I make this less traumatic for all of us?

My cats are approaching a year old, and I'd like to train them to use the toilet.

I've seen postings on the web about this, but the transition phases tend to be a little messy.

Has anyone here done this? Have any tips or methods to share?

Notes:

I have only one toilet, so any training devices that attach to it should probably be easily removed.

I have two cats, so they are practically guaranteed to have different learning rates. Any ideas on how to account for this?

My 6-1/2 year old cat has recently started pressing his front teeth flat against my arm, most often when I go to bed at night but occasionally when I am on the couch watching tv as well. He never did this until recently, and he only presses the front of his teeth flat against my arm. If I ignore him he will gradually press harder and harder, and eventually "bite" gently. If I tell him no, he will stop and go away. Does anyone know what this means or why he has started doing it?
